The Rock Station 97.7-FM will be supporting the It’s About the Warrior Foundation with its second annual Wiffle Ball Tournament for the Vets. This fun event will be held at the Beacon Hotel in Renfrew on Saturday, September 16 beginning at 9:00 a.m., and features a unique format that requires no base- running. Teams are now being accepted to play in the double-elimination tournament. Registration is $60 per team, and each 6-person team must have at least two male and two female players. The tournament uses a unique zone format and ghost runners allowing players of all skill levels to compete. “Last year, the teams had a great time competing. Playing wiffle ball was secondary to the laughter and camaraderie, but they all played to win”, said Vicki Hinterberger, General Manager of the Butler Radio Network.” “It’s a fun day with friends for a great cause, which we’re proud to support”.

At the heart of this fun event is the It’s About the Warrior Foundation. The group’s mission is to assist and empower post 9/11 veterans and their families in the tri-state area. They help all veterans--not just wounded or combat veterans--with grants, home improvements, therapeutic and outreach programs, leading to successful and enriched lives. Fundraising efforts at the event will include a large basket raffle featuring a variety of themed and designer gift baskets, a 50/50 raffle and more.

The event also welcomes spectators to come cheer on their favorite team, take a chance on our raffles, and enjoy the food and drink specials offered by the Beacon. Players must be at least 21years of age, but spectators of all ages are welcome. Team registration forms and complete tournament details can be found at 977rocks.com. Local businesses wanting to participate as a sponsor can call The Butler Radio Network at 724.283.1500 for information.
