Building Butler: A Community Leadership Series
In partnership with the Butler AM Rotary Club
New for 2026, Building Butler is a monthly community leadership series designed to spotlight the people and stories driving Butler County forward. Held on the second Tuesday of each month, this free morning event invites community leaders, entrepreneurs, and business executives to go beyond talking about their organizations and instead share their personal leadership journey, lessons learned, and the role they play in keeping our community vibrant and moving forward.
Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with new people, hear directly from those making a difference locally, and experience the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” A hot breakfast will be provided, and the event is free to attend.

Barry Cummings
Owner and Operator, Cummings Candy & Coffee
Barry Cummings is the owner and operator of Cummings Candy & Coffee in Butler, Pennsylvania, a cherished family business that has served the community for more than 110 years. As a fourth-generation leader of the company founded in 1905, Barry joined the business in 1995 and helped usher in a new era of growth while preserving the tradition and character that made it a local landmark.
Recognizing changing consumer trends, Barry expanded the business by adding a full-service coffee bar to the classic candy shop and historic soda fountain experience. Under his leadership, the company grew to multiple locations, including the iconic Main Street store and a Route 68 location known for live music, warm hospitality, and community connection.
A graduate of Robert Morris University with a degree in marketing, Barry is widely admired for blending innovation with heritage. His dedication to quality products, nostalgic atmosphere, and creating gathering spaces for the community has helped keep Cummings Candy & Coffee a treasured Butler institution for generations.
